Day Sixteen and Seventeen - the long ride home

The Long Ride Home

The Ride home from Memphis was grueling.  In a lot of ways I did not want it to end.  My only regret of the whole trip was that I did not make a detour to the tail of the dragon that connects Tennessee and North Carolina.  I have been there on another trip and believe that it is the best motorcycle road in the country.  How can you beat 318 curves in 11 miles at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains. But that will have to be another story for another time.  I have been either blessed or condemned to having a severe case of wanderlust.  I just happen to like to follow this impulse to go and see on a motorcycle.  Going alone is a double edge sword.  On one side I enjoyed being able to make all of my decisions about the trip; when to rest, what routes to take, what pictures to take etc.  On the other side there were some down sides; lack of companionship, the stress of knowing that I was on my own if I ran into any problems.

Thanks for looking
